UPDATE:
StateAlert - WA's new emergency warning system - is currently being trialled around the Bedfordale area. StateAlert uses mapping software to
automatically deliver emergency warnings to fixed line phone numbers and mobiles registered to addresses in a specific-defined area where lives
may be under threat. Read more here
More information will be displayed as the trial is completed. In the mean time, the alert-means below remain active.
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA) have since 2005, broadcast emergency alerts for major bushfires that are deemed a threat to public property, life, or nearby residents.
The alerts contain up-to-date situation reports, containing information such as location/size/severity of the fire, number of firefighting resources deployed, advice to residents (eg whether to evacuate; and if so, where to) and the expected developement of the fire in the future.
To cater for demand and diversity, the fire alerts are available through three media outlets: phone, radio & internet. Although being broadcast through different outlets, it should be noted the fire alerts are standard in their content.
IMPORTANT: Do not call Triple Zero (000) for bushfire information. The operator will not be able to assist you
